Attires on different days of the wedding

by Shatika, June 1, 2016

Weddings are a lot of fun especially Indian weddings and the different cultures in India have different ceremonies. When you are the most important person then you have to look stunning. While most girls prefer to wear sarees or a traditional dress for their wedding and dressing for the engagement or sagan ceremony is a great time to experiment with fabrics. You can also use this opportunity to select pastel shades that look elegant instead of bling. Girls generally opt for gowns in chiffon, fine chikankari work or silk. Sarees are also an option so the choice is generally arni silk saree, fine chanderi saree or a rich gold zari maheshwari. The bride is given jewellery from her in-laws which her mother and sister-in-law help her to wear on the engagement. Likewise the groom is also given gifts. The choice of the dress should not over shadow the jewellery. The engagement ring is also a big awaited event and the highlight of the evening. So flaunt your ring and enjoy your engagement and for the groom it is time of sheer happiness of being in love with the most beautiful girl in the world! He would look handsome in a tuxedo or without as men always look good in formals.

Mehandi/ Haldi

This event is kind of not so dressy for the bride or the groom. Both the families celebrate this and send the appropriate things to each others houses. So the girl could wear a salwar kameez  or churidar kurta. As all relatives in their fine sarees attend the function and wish the bride the best with a flourish of haldi and a dot of mahendi to bring good luck and prosperity in the lives of the young ones’. The bride can choose to wear a less expensive suit or wear a dark coloured mysore silk saree with a sleeveless blouse.  The choice of the sarees for the guests or relatives who attend such functions maybe a gadwal saree, bhagalpuri silk saree, a kosa silk saree or a tussar saree.

The long waited day after months of planning arrives. There is a flurry of activity again. The bride has to choose colours of her jewellery according to her saree or if she is wearing a family heirloom then the jewellery is chosen with care, as to make it stand out. As for the groom band gala, a tuxedo or sherwani are popular choices. The first option that comes to our mind is kanchipuram or kanjevaram silk saree. The stalwarts of any wedding. The more opulent, the more impressive. The banarasi silk saree with pure zari studded with precious stones is also a popular choice. The designer lehanga is also a tempting choice. You can choose colours like onion pink, red, maroon or magenta. The paithani silk saree, shalu silk saree, banarasi or kanjeevaram with real zari and the pur silk saree will add the glamour to the sedate function. The once in a life time kind of occasion demands a truly out of the world outfit. Shatika has sarees for all occasions and our sarees in the above mentioned categories are simply amazing. We can actually spoil a bride for choice. She can sit in the comfort of her home and click away happily and walk into the sunset on the arms of love and togetherness.
